Like so many others, we celebrated Thanksgiving day with our friends and family. Turkey, mashed-potatoes and gravy, yams, cranberries, and my traditional pumpkin roll were a just a few of the foods our guests devoured.
The dishes were barely done when the first indoor snowball flew through the kitchen. My cousin said to her boyfriend, "I told you our holidays were crazy."
After being nailed in the head by snowballs, the last of the observers was unable to resist the temptation to retaliate, and before I knew it, every kid and every adult joined the battle. White puffs of cotton flew freely from every direction.
The laughter, squeals, and taunts bounced off the walls along with the snowballs. It warms my heart to see even the most serious adult inconspicuously fling a ball at an unsuspecting victim. The family snowball fight has become one of our fun traditions over the past few years--I'll admit--it's become one of my favorite parts of the holidays.
I believe in playing like a child---being free and silly. It keeps your spirit young and bonds a family together unlike any sit-down meal can do. Spontaneous fun brings us out of our comfort zone and reminds us that life shall not be taken so seriously.
It only takes a few good belly laughs to release endorphin's, reduce blood pressure, and improve your immune system. Whether it's the pie-in-the-face game, or snowballs, plan to have some fun at your next gathering. Life is better with laughter.
